The impressive WL trail system is one of the most extensive and innovative in the state. The Cattail Trail and Northwest Greenway Trail are designated as National Recreation Trails. Bike lanes are also included on several streets. Using farm, park, neighborhood, university and business property margins, the trails connect a wide variety of people and places. Purdue University, the Wabash Heritage Trail and downtown Lafayette are easily accessible without using major roads. Other connections include the Lilly Nature Center & Celery Bog, businesses on US52, Cumberland Park, and Hadley Lake.
Future Plans:
A 1.06 mile extension of the Wabash Heritage Trail will travel along North
River Road, Happy Hollow Road and Happy Hollow Park. The project also
includes the construction of a new trailhead in Happy Hollow Park.
