Descrption: The Midland Trace (MT) is a planned multi-use trail along the former Midland rail corridor through Westfield and western Hamilton County.  It will essentially become the east-west version of the Monon Trail, and will intersect the Monon at a new public space in downtown Westfield dubbed the Grand Junction.

Westfield has moved very aggressively to develop the trail and is nearing construction as of 2009.

A short segment of the MT has been cleared for walking by volunteers, located behind the Walgreens at SR32 & Carey Road, running between Carey Road and Simon Moon Park.

Noblesville has not supported the MT in its planning. Boone County has the trail in its long-term plans.

Manager:
City of Westfield

The Friends of Boone County Trails is supporting development in Boone county.

Future Plans: It is hoped that eventually Noblesville will support the trail and preserve the magnificent iron-truss bridges currently over Cicero Creek and White River for the trail.  Boone County and Lebanon do support the trail in planning, although development will probably occur over a long period over time.
