Monon cyclists threatened by gunman, police say
Two people riding bicycles on the Monon Trail on the Northside said they
were threatened by a gunman Sunday afternoon. The cyclists escaped by
riding away, Indianapolis police said.
According to police, the incident happened at 3:20 p.m. in the 4400
block of the trail, where it runs west of the Indiana School for the Deaf.
According to a police report, a man with "a crazy look in his eyes"
pulled a dark gray pistol and pointed it at the cyclists, demanding
money from them.
When the bicyclists rode away, the gunman ran west toward Winthrop Avenue.
On Oct. 6, 54-year-old Darrell Arthur was savagely beaten near 28th
Street. Three teens have been charged in the attack.
Other incidents this year occurred farther north on the trail and
include reports of a fleeing bank robber, an assault involving teens and
two attempted molestations, one of which involved people who knew each
other.
