The national Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's Midwest Office is currently
seeking volunteers to participate in mapping and information-gathering
sessions for several trails around the state (see list below). They are
working toward publishing a Midwest Rail-Trail guidebook, and will need to
personally visit each featured trail, with our help. If you are willing to
spend a day or two with us, please let me know. You will be trained in the
art of GPS mapping as part of this exercise, an interesting and useful
skill.
We are looking to begin these trail outings at the end of next week (Friday,
October 13th) and continuing them over the subsequent weeks. The exact
times & dates are flexible. It is up to us as to which trails we would
visit and recommend to include in the guidebook. Any mileage, meals and
lodging you want to claim are reimbursable (keep in mind this is a
not-for-profit venture).
Please contact me if you wish to seize this opportunity & spend a day or
more in any of these sessions to help with the guidebook. Thanks in
advance!
