INDEPENDENT TRAILS ADVOCACY BOARD RISES FROM ASHES OF TRAILS ADVISORY BOARD
After the Greenwood, IN Parks Department dissolved the 3 year old Trails
Advisory Board (along with all its other citizen advisory groups), specific
members decided to stick together as an independent advocacy group. Past
members, and new citizens, have also joined them to continue the efforts that have
led to a successful trails program in Greenwood.
The newly formed independent Trails Advocacy Board will meet the 4th
Thursday of each month (some exceptions during holiday season), at 6pm, at the
Greenwood Public Library on Madison Avenue. All members of the public are welcome
to participate.
One of the group’s first tasks was to create a functioning website where we
can keep you informed on all matters related to local trails. There you will
find a meeting schedule, meeting Agendas, meetings Minutes, archival
documents, related newspaper articles, maps and more. Content there will continue to
grow, but we have a good start, thanks to webmaster Thane Morgan. Please
visit us at _www.buildtrails.org_ (http://www.buildtrails.org/) .
If you want to have a better understanding of what led to the need to form
this new advocacy group, please read member Don Cummings’ 2 part October guest
column series from the Johnson County Daily Journal, posted at:
