The American Trails website holds two good articles on constructing a
trail with a crushed stone surface. Scroll down the page to the
surfacing section. Both articles discuss the appropriate mix.

The RTP grant for the Whitewater Canal Trail has received final
approval.
(Kudos to Susan Ostby of DNR for keeping things on track during the
final
steps)
Construction on the 2.6 mile section funded by the grant will begin as
soon
as weather permits!!!
We now need a formula/recipe for the crushed stone mixture that is used
to
provide the firm and stable surface. A nearby limestone quarry is
willing to
make a custom mix for us but we need some specs. We'd appreciate any
help
you can give us on this.
We will keep you updated on progress and let you know when the ribbon
cutting will be.
