FOLLOW UP REGARDING 'GREENWAYS OF GREENWOOD' 5K RUN/WALK
The Trails Advocacy Board was proud to be a “trail builder” level sponsor
for the Oct 27th event, and we provided a number of volunteers—but the event
belongs to its three primary stakeholders—The Greenwood Parks and Recreation
Department, Performance Chiropractic (who conceived of the event and was, and
will continue to be, its title sponsor), and Carpe Vita who was the
professional run/walk organizer. These words from the Carpe Vita website sum up the
positive results of this debut event of a newly-minted annual series, the “
Greenways of Greenwood” run/walk.
“… After teaming and planning of over 6 months with Performance
Chiropractic, the event was able to successfully attract 150 participants and raise over
$2,000 for trail development in the Greenwood Area. Carpe Vita's executive
director Josh Kendall was thrilled to be a part of the event. ‘We were
thrilled for our first event to be so successful and to have such an impact.’ "

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES:
LOCAL: Work by the Parks Department in applying pressure to the developers
of Timber Ridge, resulted in the developer finally living up to his legal
obligation to the citizens of Greenwood. Recently a fifth of a mile multi-use
trail was completed across private land and along Fry Road, connecting the
Timber Ridge residents to the Northwest Park trail system. And for the rest of
you--the next time you are in that park, branch out a bit and head eastward to
check out the new connection.
REGIONAL: Downtown Indianapolis’ multi-use Cultural Trail is finally
starting to take place—with its first segment’s construction nearing completion.
The Cultural Trail is the first such project in the nation and is getting a
lot of attention for its innovative approach in providing separated routing
for cars, pedestrians and cyclists…each having their own “lanes”. If you find
yourself in downtown Indy, head towards the Murat Theatre and you are sure
see the trail. Check out some recent national press on the trail here:

SPECIAL DONOR RECOGNITION:
HAL’S FABULOUS VEGAS BAR & GRILLE – We again thank Hal’s for its recent
generous donation (and sponsorship of two of our newsletters). It’s great to see
locally owned businesses support projects for Greenwood’s residents and we
encourage you to patronize such businesses. Hal’s is just south of County
Line Rd on the eastside of Hwy 135. If you’ve not been in, it’s definitely
worth a try. (I can personally testify it is absolutely one of the finest
restaurants in the area - in terms of both food and atmosphere.) You can check
out their phone number, menu, operating hours, and even see some photos of the
inside, at: _www.halsvegas.com/_ (http://www.halsvegas.com/) or read a
review at: _http://www.halsvegas.com/Revues/Intake053107.htm_
