And with trail construction costs going through the roof, it will be even more relevant in the future. My hunch is that a hard surface gets quite of bit more use, but I have no data. It probably also depends on whether it's in an urban area or rural. My question is how much more trail use occurs on the more costly ?asphalt? trail surface option versus the less costly ?crushed limestone? trail surface option. Our group is working on a grant request that will help us afford the ?asphalt? trail option so hearing about your experiences in this area is greatly appreciated.
