style='font-size:11.0pt'> Imagine traveling back in time to 1880 and
trying to navigate the roads of Franklin County without the benefit of maps or
GPS systems. Tri-state residents will have such an opportunity every
Saturday and Sunday in October from 1-5 pm at the 3<sup>rd</sup> Annual Metamora
Corn Maze. The admission fee is $5 and all proceeds go to the Whitewater Canal
Trail.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Thousands of fun-seekers from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky are once again
expected get lost in the cornfields of Franklin County while spending an
afternoon wandering over 3 miles of trails through a 12 acre maze.
For those in search of a group activity, the Metamora Corn Maze has proven to
be a hit. Visitors can take the train from downtown Metamora or take
advantage of parking off of Hwy 52. Entrance to the corn maze is one mile
east of Metamora (or five miles west of Brookville).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>
The 2008 corn maze, a map of Franklin County from 1880, was designed in
recognition of Brookville’s Bicentennial Celebration and the original
pioneers who traveled across the hills, valleys and rivers of beautiful
Franklin County to settle the countryside. The maze will also feature
historical markers and informational signs about the history of Metamora,
Brookville, Oldenburg and other Franklin County towns.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Another special feature of this year’s corn maze is the Whitewater Canal
Trail’s participation in “Walk Across Indiana”.
Saturday, October 11, the Whitewater Canal Trail will be the featured link for
the “Walk”. The 2.6 mile-long trail is open for both walking
and biking and is the first ADA approved trail in Franklin County.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>
The maze design was translated into a planting layout by the Maize
Company. In the spring, the corn was planted in both directions to
prevent visibility from one row to the other. Once it began to grown,
area volunteers spent over 90 hours cutting the corn to the specifications of
the computerized layout.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
